S.A. COMMUNITY MUSIC FESTIVAL

Last updated : Friday, January 13, 2017

S.A. Community Bands, Choirs & Orchestras were asked to participate in this profit-share initiative to raise the profile of Community Music Groups using varied, low cost, quality performances and widespread co-operative publicity by all musicians in these Groups.
The 2015 Festival venue was the Cumberland Park Community Centre
390 Goodwood Road, Cumberland Park, 200 metres south of BIGW, on site and local street parking, fully air-conditioned & easy bus access G10/G20 Stop 10.
Front-of-House involved setting up & clearing down, selling tickets, ushering and assisting plus serving free tea & coffee being critical elements in presenting a successful show, volunteering Group names are shown below as “F-o-H”
The Festival won the City of Mitcham, Community Event of the Year Award and was presented on Australia Day at Carrick Hill to the sponsor & organiser the ARPA Orchestra.
The Festival objectives were to promote the multitude of South Australian Community Music Groups of Bands, Choirs and Orchestras and the Cumberland Park Community Centre itself as a fine yet economical venue for presenting entertainment.
The Festival succeeded in these objectives and various enquiries for the venue hire have been received since by Council staff.
There will be no 2016 Festival and future Festivals are subject to positive feedback and support but successful publicity to attract new audiences remains a prime concern.
